We've been on an oh-so-tight budget since Mark went back to school and started his internship, so it was such a treat to have a stay-cation and splurge a little. :) My honey has been working or going to school 6 days (and some nights) a week since January, so we knew we need a little getaway when he got his first weekend off! Plus, let me take a minute and brag on him. He's been studying and working SO hard! Each class is 3 weeks long, and he's made an A in every single one!! So, this was a much deserved reward. :)
We started out with lunch in Roanoke, which is a cute little town just north of us. They have a new candy shop in their little downtown that we checked out. I took tons of cute pictures of the girls! They were smiling and being so sweet, I just couldn't stop shooting. Then, I told Mark,"You've GOT to come look at these!!" That's when I saw the dreaded, "no card" flash across my camera screen. :( So, we made do with camera phones for our little trip!
Someone had a BALL with this little car!
Landrie hears "Yee Haw" but somehow it comes out as "Nee Haw!!!" Love this little Texan. :)
Look whose starting smiling for the camera!!
We drove to the other side of town and got checked in to our room at the Embassy Suites in Frisco. It was prefect for a family with kids!
Chowing down on some AMAZING BBQ!
How good is it, Landrie?? :)
Landrie and Mark had a ball swimming in the indoor pool, but Tatem screamed when her toes hit that not-as-warm-as-my-bath water. She happily snuggled with me on a pool chair and watched all the action. :) Hopefully she'll be a little more adventurous next time we try the pool, or it's going to be a loooong summer!
Our last experience in a hotel room was NOT fun. We stayed here because they have two separate rooms! Landrie slept on the fold out couch, Tatem slept in a pack and play, and we got to stay up past 8:00. :)
These giggly sisters loved their movie night. I think Tatem's favorite part of the room was opening and closing the under the counter microwave and putting her milk in there! There's no doubt about Landrie's favorite part- it was getting the ice! Remember how fun that was when you were a kid?
Everyone slept great, and we spent the next day just running around as a WHOLE family. It was just what we've needed!! We are so thankful that Mark's getting to take advantage of this new job opportunity, but all of us will be glad when school is over! :)
