In some ways, it seems like just yesterday that we brought 6lb, 1 oz Baby Tatem home. But then, I can hardly remember life without her in our family!
Tatem has grown into a beautiful, red-headed, blue- eyed giggly girl! She LOVES to play and laugh!
After a rough start with colic, Tatem has more than made up for all that crying with her easy smiles and laughs! By one year, a baby should triple her birth weight. Well, Tatem's up to an even 20 pounds already! This girl loves to eat, and will eat almost anything we give her. She eats the same amount of food as her almost 3 year old sister! She's also still breastfeeding about four times a day, but feedings are just 5 minutes or so now. Any new moms reading this, they get MUCH more efficient than those initial 30 minute feedings. :)
How precious is this little pre-bedtime yawn? Tatem is taking a one hour nap each morning, and I either put her right back down after she eats at 7:00 am, or I wait until 9 to put her down, depending on our morning plans. She naps again from about 1-3, then goes to bed at 7:30 each night. She sleeps ALL night long. YAY!!!
Guess what!? Today is Monday, September 3rd, and while Mark was home for Labor Day, and we both happened to be watching, Tatem took her FIRST STEPS!! Well, two tiny ones to be exact! At her 9 month check up, she was so behind in so many areas (including gross motor skills), we began to focus even more on those skills in her physical therapy. We are SO proud that she's completely caught up, and now even taking steps!!!
Look at all those teeth! Tatem got 2 new teeth on Saturday (the same day as her birthday party, poor thing!), so now she has 4 on top and 3 on the bottom. Like I said, one of her favorite things to do is eat with those little teeth. That brings me to her most useful trick...signing for "MORE!" It really looks more like clapping (which she also likes to do!) and you are very emphatic when you need more food or a sippy cup with a drink. If we don't see you sign- you scream! We are working on that!
She says a few words, like momma, dada, more (this is generally screamed "MA"), occasionally ball ("ba") and baby ("bay-bay," which is always, always accompanied by a huge smile!) Again, we are so thankful she's made so much progress! At her 9 month check up, she was just making vowel sounds and didn't babble at all, but should have been able to say 3 words. Eek! Now she's quite vocal, although she doesn't like to perform. If we ask her to say a word, she just grins. :)
Tatem's been on the go, trying to keep up with Landrie for months now. Yup, that means she is into everything, including the car trip bag full of yummy snacks like Twizzlers!
Tatem loves the phone (or anything phone-like) and she puts them near her ear and says, "Oh?" (like helLO?)
She's also into ALL things BABY! She sucks her thumb and plays with the tag on the back of her very favorite baby, but I learned very quickly that that baby should never leave the crib. It's too valuable! :) Thankfully, when she's not sleeping, Tatem happily plays with any baby. We have some in the car, some in the diaper bag, some in the playroom...
Tatem Rose, we love you SO MUCH! You've added so much joy to our family, and we all just adore you!
