We were so excited that Brianna and Brynn came to spend the day with us at the end of Brianna's Spring Break! Landrie's birthmom is so sweet, and we get to visit about every other month or so.
Of course, Landrie got all dolled up for the visit! :) I love her big eyes in this one!
We spent some time at our house and then headed out to lunch! Landrie looks like she's licking her lips- ready for some Mexican food!
Mark was able to take the afternoon off and meet Brianna, Landrie, Brynn and me at On the Border. YUM!
When we got back home, it was so sweet to watch Brynn and Landrie play together! This was the first visit that Landrie was really old enough to interact with sweet 3 year old Brynn. Brynn gave her kisses and showed her how all the toys work. Landrie was completely enthralled!!
Brynn even got down to play with Landrie on her favorite toy, the play gym!
Brianna and Landrie practiced her walking. She's not quite there yet, but she's getting stronger everyday!
So many people ask about our adoption, and it seems one of the things that is the hardest to comprehend is that we have a relationship with Landrie's birthmom. I'm right there with you! When we were considering adoption, we weren't so sure about this whole "open adoption" thing. Once we met Brianna, all of our fears flew out the window! It's been a joy to have an ongoing relationship with her. Open adoptions look different in every situation. For us, we don't get to see each other very often because we don't live in the same town. When we do visit, Brianna comes to our home, or we go to her town. Each month during Landrie's first year, we send her a letter to update her on Landrie and some pictures. Here's what we sent one month:
It's always hard to choose which ones to send! :)
Brianna loves Landrie very much, and we are so blessed to have her in our lives. You're amazing, Brianna!!!
