Gotcha Day Anniversary #1!

WOW!  When I mentioned to Mark that Landrie's first Gotcha Day anniversary was coming up, he couldn't believe it!  One year ago last April, we went to court to finalize the adoption of our precious daughter, Landrie Grace!

This was such a special day for us as a family, a marker of the end of a long journey.  We want to celebrate our family each year to remember that special time in our lives.

This year, we picked the Fort Worth ZOO!  What, you haven't been yet?  It was the first time for all 3 (well, technically 4, but I don't think the youngest one will remember this visit!) of us to go too.  You HAVE to try it!

One of the first exhibits we saw was of the gorillas.  Over on the side, there's this glass and TWO gorillas were leaning against the glass, asleep.  Landrie was way into it until one woke up!  It's a bit hard to tell, but this guy is smiling at Mark!

I love that as we tried to point out the giraffes, Landrie was wildly enthralled with the bird on the rail, the bug buzzing around and the fish in the water.

She eventually noticed these beautiful guys.

She loved the real elephants.

But did NOT love this.  I don't think I've ever seen her make this face!

She was much happier giving hugs and kisses. :)

In some zoos, there is a dinosaur section.  Here, they have these very realistic, animated dinosaurs every few displays.  We would round a corner and I would jump out of my skin every single time!

Can you find the lion?

Landrie did!  ROAR!

We packed a picnic lunch, and met up with a little furry friend.  Landrie dropped part of her pb&j, and he showed up.  The squirrel let Mark hand feed him!

Love our little family!

There were so many exhibits where Landrie was able to get up close and personal with the animals.

Can you believe how beautiful the zoo was?  The whole place is like this.  Check out LG, turned around backwards in her stroller.  We might have to be a bit more strict on the whole stay-in-your-stroller thing with two!

Last summer, we checked out the fantastic Houston Zoo with my parents.  Landrie was only about 2 feet tall!

When I saw this "Howdy, partner, you must be 42" to ride" sign, I knew we needed to snap her picture here too!  Looks like she's about 3 feet tall this year.  Quit growing so fast!  (For all of you non-Texans, we were in the Texas part of the zoo, we don't really talk like that all the time!)  :)

Landrie LOVED the carousel!  By the end of the ride, she loosened that death grip. :)

They had this toddler place to check out a bunch of farm stuff.  Mark patiently showed Landrie how to push the buttons to hear each animal's sound.  At one point, he got tired of squatting and stood back up.  Landrie couldn't quite push the buttons hard enough, so he tapped them with his foot...

Monkey see...monkey do!

Baby Sister and a jaguar! (almost 23 weeks)  This is the belly after lunch. :)

Landrie's little boyfriends have taught her a healthy love of trains.  We worked our way all the way to the north end of the zoo, then took the train back.  This baby girl was SO excited!!!

Our tiny cutie was still able to fit into her Gotcha Day party dress from last summer!  Yes you are, Landrie Grace; you are FOREVER a part of our family!

On our way home with one tuckered out little girl.  It could not have been a more perfect day!

Once again...

Thank you God, for turning our longing into LOVING!!!!!
